Rice terraces of Mù Cang Chải, Yên Bái province, Vietnam
Amidst the rolling hills of Vietnam"s Yên Bái province, the rice terraces of Mù Cang Chải district are a mosaic of agricultural excellence. The Hmong people, an ethnic minority known for their rich culture and vibrant attire, have meticulously carved these cascading hills for generations. The Hmong migrated to northern Vietnam in the 19th century from China. They were skilled in shifting cultivation—an agricultural system in which lands are cultivated temporarily and then returned to their natural vegetation—of crops including millets, rice, corn and barley.Desktop Version

Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park
Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park
Immerse yourself in the majesty of Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, Spain"s oldest protected natural sanctuary. The park houses the Añisclo canyon, a result of the relentless work of the river Bellos carving through the limestone, creating a marvel that dates back millions of years. The park was established in 1918, with the primary aim of preserving the high mountain landscape of the surrounding region. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, the area predominantly has rugged terrain, limestone formations and a plethora of karst features including sinkholes and caves. The park"s name, Monte Perdido, meaning "Lost Mountain", reflects the grandeur of its second-highest peak, often covered in mist. Here, golden eagles soar overhead, and the rare call of the bearded vulture echoes against the stone. Lose yourself in the raw beauty of Ordesa, where each path tells a tale of time"s relentless march.Desktop Version

San Gimignano, Siena, Italy
San Gimignano, Siena, Italy
These medieval towers stand tall over San Gimignano, a small town near Siena in north-central Italy. In the Middle Ages, a town grew up around a church dedicated to Saint Geminianus—San Gimignano in Italian. As well as being a popular stop for pilgrims on their way to Rome, the town prospered thanks to its trade in local Vernaccia wine and saffron, which is grown in the nearby hills. However, when the Black Death struck in 1348, half the population was lost, slowing the town"s development and preserving its medieval character to this day.Desktop Version

Vinh Hy Bay, Vietnam
Vinh Hy Bay, Vietnam
Welcome to Hang Rai, a blend of ancient rock formations and vibrant coral reefs! Also called Rai Cave, this cavern is part of the Vinh Hy Bay—enclosed by Nui Chua National Park—in the South Central Coast region of Vietnam. The area"s natural coral reefs are surrounded by rock formations, that are carefully stacked upon each other to form a group of caves. One origin of the name "Hang Rai" or "Rai Cave" comes from otters (rai) that were occasionally seen seeking shelter in the cave. Another explanation is attributed to the abundance of rai trees in the area, whose oil was used to waterproof boats. The landscape has an awe-inspiring sight both under and above water: colourful corals for deep divers and a scenic sunset for those who like camping in the sea breeze.Desktop Version

Mount Sopris, Colorado
Mount Sopris, Colorado
The colossal Mount Sopris stands out in the Elk Mountains, part of the Rocky Mountain range, in the Centennial State, Colorado. Situated near the town of Carbondale, Mount Sopris has two distinct summits, East Sopris and West Sopris. It"s a common misconception that Mount Sopris was a volcano. In reality, the magma within Mount Sopris didn"t erupt; it underwent crystallisation deep beneath the Earth"s surface, approximately 3,048 metres down, creating a massive rock-covered dome. In addition to its natural allure, Mount Sopris was a hallowed site for various Indigenous peoples, including the Ute tribes, who have historically inhabited the region. In the past, the Roaring Fork and Crystal Valleys served as seasonal dwellings and hunting territories for the Parianuche and Yampa bands of the Ute people. The mountain continues to be a beloved emblem of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, drawing in visitors and adventurers alike.Desktop Version
