Starting in Gloucestershire and winding through cities like Oxford, Windsor, and in today"s image, London, it flows for more than 340 kilometres before merging with the North Sea. With a range of freshwater and near seawater habitats, the river is a haven for an array of wildlife like mute swans and bottlenose dolphins. Alpine marmot
Alpine marmot
The alpine marmot in today"s image is a close relative of the groundhog, which is another species of marmot. The alpine marmot is native to central and southern Europe and can be found at altitudes between 800 and 3,200 metres. Weighing between 1.9 to 7 kilograms, they are easily recognised by their round faces, short tails and dense fur that helps them endure chilly mountain climates. When it comes to food, these creatures are herbivores with simple taste. These little champs spend their summer days grazing on grasses, herbs, roots, seeds and flowers, storing up energy for their big event: a roughly nine-month hibernation party. Sometimes they eat grain, worms, insects and spiders. Beyond their hibernation habits, alpine marmots live a highly social lifestyle. They communicate through a variety of vocal sounds, including sharp whistles to warn the group of predators like eagles or foxes. This strong sense of community is key to their survival.Desktop Version

Madame Sherri Forest, New Hampshire, United States
Madame Sherri Forest in Chesterfield in New Hampshire, United States, is a captivating destination steeped in history and natural beauty. It was once the site of an extravagant house built in the 1930s by Madame Antoinette Sherri, a flamboyant 1920s costume designer known for her lavish parties. Madame Sherri"s dramatic arrivals in town, often in a chauffeur-driven Packard, draped in furs, became the talk of the locals. As her fortune declined, her "castle" fell into disrepair and was vandalised. In 1959, she returned to find her property in ruins and never came back. Measuring 38 to 40 centimetres long and weighing approximately 225 – 455 grams, this bird is a wonder of nature"s design. Both male and female aracaris share the same dazzling appearance. These birds circle through the air in groups of 6 to 15 and at night, they snuggle together in tree cavities. Their song is as unique as their look—a sharp "seek" or a whimsical "pink," sometimes a purring sound or even a raspy "grhhrr." Blueberries growing in the wild
Celebrate and indulge in the sweet, tangy flavours of this beloved fruit! Blueberries are categorised into two main types: highbush (cultivated) and lowbush (wild). They have been around for over 13,000 years in the wild. Their bluish colour comes from a pigment named anthocyanin, a potent antioxidant linked to various health benefits, including reduced risk of heart disease and improved brain function. Hammonton, in New Jersey, USA, holds the title of the "Blueberry Capital of the World" as over 80% of the state"s cultivated blueberries come from this town. The sandy, acidic soil and optimal climate create ideal conditions for blueberry farming. These scrumptious berries are fibre-rich and packed with antioxidants and vitamin C. So, toss them in your smoothies, sprinkle over oatmeal or savour them fresh and flaunt your blue-stained smile!Desktop Version

Steller sea lions might look like laid-back loungers on rocky shores, but they are noisy and nosy. Built with broad chests and thick necks, they are hard to miss. Today"s image features Steller sea lions gliding through the chilly waters off the coast of Vancouver Island in Canada. These marine mammals are heavy—females average more than 260 kilograms, while males are around 540 kilograms. Their deep vocalisations include belching, growling and snorting to warn others and communicate underwater. Males get loud to defend turf, while moms and pups use unique calls to find each other in a crowded rookery. Despite their size, they"re preyed on by orcas and large sharks. These sea lions are considered near-threatened. Ocean conservation keeps them—and countless other mammals—afloat.Desktop Version

Let"s take a trip to a forest of stones: Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, USA. In the park, named after the Mormon pioneer Ebenezer Bryce, lies Sunset Point, seen in today"s image, a spot to see the hoodoos. These rock formations are created by frost weathering and stream erosion, which shape the stone into an otherworldly landscape. Perched at 2,438 to 2,743 metres, this overlook offers a panoramic view of rocky spires in red, orange and white. The most iconic of them is Thor"s Hammer, a hoodoo that overlooks a part of the park known as the "Silent City." The Queen"s Garden Trail, which leads from Sunset Point to Sunrise Point, offers even more vistas and rock formations, including the Queen Victoria hoodoo. According to the legend told by the Paiute indigenous people who inhabited this area, hoodoos are people who have been turned to stone for their misdeeds by the trickster Coyote. Fishing village of Tilting, Fogo Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Tilting, a village on Fogo Island at Canada"s eastern edge, was settled by Irish immigrants in the 18th century. It remains a unique example of an Irish outport community that has preserved its cultural identity. The bright fishing sheds and homes weren"t painted just for aesthetics; the hues once made buildings easier to spot during heavy fog or snowfall. It all began in 1908 when then-US President Theodore Roosevelt designated the area as a national monument. Later in 2013, Pinnacles earned its status as a national park. This land owes its formations to an ancient volcanic eruption that occurred 23 million years ago. Over millennia, tectonic forces shifted the landmass northward, leaving the park far from its volcanic birthplace. Talk about a journey!Desktop Version
