The Brooklyn Bridge doesn"t just connect Manhattan and Brooklyn in the United States—it bridges history, engineering and a few surprising stories too. Opened in 1883 after 14 years of construction, it became the world"s first steel-wire suspension bridge, forever changing the way New Yorkers crossed the East River.
