The fortress in our image is Romania"s Corvin Castle—not far from Transylvania, a real historical region in Romania. In Bram Stoker"s novel "Dracula," the ghoulish Count Dracula lives in a remote Transylvanian castle, cementing the place in popular imagination as the home of vampires.
