Gulf Islands National Seashore in Florida, United States, is a breathtaking ensemble of unspoiled barrier islands, as depicted in today"s image. Established in 1971, this gem began forming between 4,500 and 5,400 years ago. The islands stretch along the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico, spanning Florida and Mississippi. It offers visitors over 257 kilometres of pristine white quartz sand beaches, historic forts and aquatic adventures. The seashore includes 16 kilometres of wilderness on Mississippi"s Petit Bois and Horn Islands, protecting the unique ecosystems of these regions.
