Gwalior Fort, one of many in the country, proudly occupies the colossal rocky hill known as Gopachal. Crafted initially from a combination of sandstone and lime mortar, this fort reigns as one of Gwalior"s most distinguished landmarks. Its history stretches far back, marked by sieges and conquests by a procession of rulers throughout the ages. The impregnable bastion is a symbol of military might, and harbours a multitude of temples, each bearing the unique imprint of various kings from different eras. Today, the fort"s storied past shines through its splendid palaces, temples, gateways and walls.
