Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge was established as a refuge in 1941 under US President Franklin D. Roosevelt"s leadership. Kodiak Island in Alaska boasts a diverse landscape that includes an extensive shoreline spanning hundreds of kilometres as well as lakes, marshes, bogs and meadows.
